The Cook, The Thief, His Wife And Her Lover (1989) (Australian Import) [Blu-ray]

The Cook, The Thief, His Wife And Her Lover Blu-ray presents Peter Greenaway’s notorious and visually extravagant crime drama, a provocative tale of obsession, revenge and excess.

Set almost entirely within a lavish French restaurant, the film follows a brutal gangster who terrorizes his staff, patrons and long-suffering wife while holding nightly court over grotesque feasts and displays of power. As his wife begins a secret affair with another diner, their dangerous relationship sets the stage for a shocking act of revenge. Blending dark comedy, crime drama and arthouse surrealism, Peter Greenaway crafts a visually stunning and deeply unsettling cinematic experience.

Starring Michael Gambon, Helen Mirren and Tim Roth, The Cook, The Thief, His Wife And Her Lover remains one of the most controversial and acclaimed British films of the late 1980s.
