The Dead One [Blu-ray]

The Dead One Blu-ray brings the worldwide HD premiere of one of exploitation cinema’s most fascinating oddities and a likely contender for the first full-colour zombie film ever made. Written, produced and directed in 1960 by the endlessly eccentric Barry Mahon, this New Orleans–set voodoo nightmare follows a plantation mistress who summons her brother from the grave, unleashing a surreal mix of Creole horror, jazz piano, strip clubs, doomed romance and sharp-dressed undead revenge. Long advertised as “The Greatest Voodoo Film Ever Made!” and also known as Blood of the Zombie, The Dead One Blu-ray presents this regional rarity newly scanned in 2K from the interpositive and restored to its proper aspect ratio for the first time.
