The Delta [Blu-ray]

The Delta Criterion Blu-ray presents the striking 1996 debut from director Ira Sachs, a raw and intimate portrait of race, class, and sexuality unfolding along the Mississippi River. With neorealist immediacy, the film begins as a seemingly simple love story: Lincoln (Shayne Gray), a closeted white teenager, meets Minh (Thang Chan), a Black Vietnamese immigrant, at a cruising spot in Memphis. What follows is a nighttime boat journey that drifts from tenderness into something far more unsettling.

As their connection deepens, imbalances of power and privilege surface, exposing emotional fault lines beneath the surface of desire. Ira Sachs crafts a devastating vision of wounded souls reaching for human connection in the dark, only to confront the limits of intimacy shaped by identity and circumstance.
