The Films of Hisayasu Sato: Volume #5 Limited Edition [Blu-ray]

The Films of Hisayasu Sato: Volume #5 LE Blu-ray collects three films from the acclaimed Japanese filmmaker’s prolific late-1980s and early-1990s period, newly scanned and restored in 2K from their original negatives with Hisayasu Satô’s approval and guidance.

Brain Sex follows two young women who discover an underground pirate radio broadcaster operating from a van. As control of the broadcasts changes hands, the program evolves into an increasingly voyeuristic exploration of strangers and private lives, allowing Satô to examine alienation, surveillance, intimacy and the distance created by media.

Birthday, also known as Molester's Train: Nasty Behavior, takes the long-running series into considerably darker territory, focusing on two isolated and troubled people whose unexpected connection grows out of loneliness and self-destructive impulses. Fuga Music for Alpha and Beta, also known as Pervert Ward: S&M Clinic, centres on the intense relationship between a married couple whose escalating private dynamic becomes increasingly unsettling when another person enters their isolated world.
