The Kindred [Blu-ray]

The Kindred Blu-ray resurrects one of the 1980s’ most ambitious practical-effects creature features, now restored in a new 4K remaster of the unrated cut. When renowned molecular scientist Dr. Amanda Hollins (Kim Hunter) dies, she urges her son John to destroy every trace of her secret genetic experiments—especially the “Anthony Journals.” But Dr. Philip Lloyd (Rod Steiger), obsessed with her research, is determined to continue it at any cost. Returning to his remote childhood home with a group of friends, John uncovers the horrifying truth: an abomination born of experimental ambition waits in the shadows, watching… and hungry. Loaded with practical gore, monster effects and tense ’80s atmosphere, the film features standout performances from Amanda Pays and Talia Balsam alongside its unforgettable creature creation.
