The Last Horror Film (Tromatic Special Edition) [Blu-ray]

The Last Horror Film Blu-ray delivers a sleazy, self-reflexive slice of early ’80s exploitation horror set against the glitz of the Cannes Film Festival. Directed by David Winters, this unsettling cult oddity follows a disturbed New York taxi driver who becomes obsessed with a rising actress, trailing her to the French Riviera as a string of brutal murders begins to thin the circle around her.

Blurring the line between stalker thriller and meta-commentary on fame, voyeurism, and the horror industry itself, The Last Horror Film taps into the same grimy psychological territory as MANIAC while skewering the excess and ego of the film world. Featuring a memorable performance by cult icon Joe Spinell and an unexpectedly stylish European setting, the film stands as one of Troma’s strangest and most fascinating acquisitions.

This Tromatic Special Edition Blu-ray rounds up a generous slate of extras celebrating the film’s place within exploitation cinema and Troma history, including commentaries, interviews, and rare short-form material.
