The Mad Monkey (Twisted Obsession) [Blu-ray]

The Mad Monkey (Twisted Obsession) Blu-ray presents Fernando Trueba’s 1989 psychological neo-noir thriller in a restored high-definition release from Bizarro. Also known as Twisted Obsession, the film stars Jeff Goldblum, Miranda Richardson, Dexter Fletcher and Liza Walker in a dark, twisting story set around the Paris film world.

American screenwriter Dan Gillis is living in Paris after a recent separation when he is hired to collaborate with ambitious young director Malcolm Greene. As Dan becomes drawn into Malcolm’s circle, including his sister Jenny and Dan’s agent Marilyn, the project’s strange screenplay begins to blur with manipulation, obsession and dangerous secrets.

Stylish, offbeat and unsettling, The Mad Monkey marks Academy Award-winning director Fernando Trueba’s bold entry into psychological thriller territory. Shot by José Luis Alcaine, this long-unavailable Spanish production arrives on Region A Blu-ray with a 2K restoration, new interviews, archival behind-the-scenes footage, booklet and limited edition spot gloss slipcover.
