The Man Who Reclaimed His Head [Blu-ray]

The Man Who Reclaimed His Head Blu-ray presents the powerful 1934 anti-war drama starring Claude Rains in one of his earliest leading roles following his breakthrough performance in The Invisible Man. Directed by Edward Ludwig, this dark and compelling drama explores the moral cost of political ambition, propaganda and betrayal.

Claude Rains stars as Paul Verin, a pacifist writer who secretly pens fiery anti-war editorials that are publicly credited to ambitious politician Henry Dumont (Lionel Atwill). As Dumont’s political career advances, he begins distancing himself from the radical ideas that helped elevate his reputation, pressuring Verin to soften his message.

When Verin refuses to compromise his beliefs, Dumont retaliates by sending him to the front lines of the war and pursuing Verin’s wife (Joan Bennett). As personal betrayal and political manipulation collide, Verin must confront the devastating consequences of a world driven by power and propaganda.

Today regarded as a striking early anti-war film, The Man Who Reclaimed His Head remains a dark and stylish drama from Hollywood’s pre-Code era.
