The Railroad Man Blu-ray presents Pietro Germi’s deeply human neorealist drama about dignity, responsibility, and quiet collapse. Germi directs and stars as Andrea Marcocci, a train driver whose life begins to unravel after witnessing a suicide on the tracks. What follows is a tender, emotionally layered portrait of a working-class Italian family under strain.

Narrated from the perspective of his young son Sandro, the film explores the ripple effects of trauma on Andrea’s wife Sara and their extended family, who depend on him financially and emotionally. Anchored by Germi’s muscular yet vulnerable performance, The Railroad Man stands alongside Bicycle Thieves and La terra trema as one of the defining works of postwar Italian realism.
