The Sacrifice [Blu-ray]

The Sacrifice Blu-ray presents Andrei Tarkovsky’s final film, a deeply spiritual and haunting meditation on sacrifice, faith and the looming threat of nuclear destruction.

Set on a remote Baltic island, the story follows a wealthy family whose peaceful gathering is shattered by news of global catastrophe. As fear and despair take hold, Alexander—a philosopher troubled by humanity’s spiritual emptiness—makes a desperate and profound pact in hopes of saving those he loves.

Shot by legendary cinematographer Sven Nykvist, the film’s stark visual palette and deliberate pacing create an atmosphere of quiet devastation and transcendence. Completed as Tarkovsky faced his own mortality, The Sacrifice stands as a powerful and deeply personal farewell.
