The Sadness [Limited Edition] (UK Import) [4K Ultra HD]

The Sadness 4K Ultra HD delivers one of the most uncompromising modern horror films of the post-pandemic era, dragging extreme cinema screaming into the 2020s with shocking intensity. Written and directed by Rob Jabbaz, this ferocious Taiwanese outbreak thriller follows the sudden mutation of a deadly virus that strips away inhibition and morality, transforming the infected into sadistic engines of violence. As society collapses overnight, a young couple, Jim and Kat, struggle to reunite across a city consumed by brutality, desperation, and unrelenting carnage.

Equal parts apocalyptic horror and vicious social satire, The Sadness pushes its violence to almost absurd extremes while remaining brutally effective. Inspired in part by the nihilistic excess of Garth Ennis’ Crossed, the film is powered by relentless pacing, devastating practical effects, and an unflinching commitment to its bleak worldview. Arrow Video’s limited edition 4K release presents the film in stunning high dynamic range and surrounds it with an extensive set of commentaries, featurettes, and rare short films that explore its creation, themes, and shock value.
