The Shout Blu-ray presents Jerzy Skolimowski’s 1978 Cannes award-winning psychological horror drama in a director-approved Criterion Collection special edition. Adapted from a short story by Robert Graves, the film is a strange and unsettling tale of psychic dread, artistic obsession and mysterious forces that resist explanation.

In a small English village, an experimental composer and his wife find their quiet routine disrupted by the arrival of a sinister stranger. Claiming to possess knowledge of Aboriginal magic, the stranger says he can kill using a supernatural scream, drawing the couple into a tense and increasingly unstable confrontation.

Built around unnerving ambiguity, electronic sound design and a puzzle-box structure, The Shout is a hypnotic and disquieting work from legendary Polish filmmaker Jerzy Skolimowski. This Criterion Blu-ray features a 2K digital restoration, new interviews, archival festival footage, a 1977 television program and an essay by Leo Goldsmith.
