Peppermint Candy (1999)

A troubled man’s past is revealed in reverse chronological order, linking his personal choices and despair to South Korea’s social and economic transformation. Lee Chang-dong’s second feature examines the forces that have shaped one life and a wider generation.

Oasis (2002)

A social outsider and a young woman with a disability form an unexpected romantic connection despite mistreatment within their families. The film combines an unconventional love story with an unsparing view of exclusion and the expectations imposed on its characters.

Poetry (2010)

An elderly woman facing the onset of Alzheimer’s is confronted by her grandson’s moral indifference. Her increasingly distressing circumstances become the focus of a character study about responsibility and the struggle to respond to what she learns.
