Visitors From The Arkana Galaxy [Blu-ray]

Visitors From The Arkana Galaxy Blu-ray delivers one of the most deliriously unclassifiable sci-fi films of the early 1980s, newly restored and released for contemporary audiences. Directed by Dušan Vukotić, best known for his Oscar-winning animated shorts, this rare live-action feature explodes with anarchic imagination, practical effects madness, and deadpan Balkan surrealism.

A struggling writer living in a quiet seaside village invents a pulp science-fiction story about gold-skinned alien androids from a distant planet. When his fictional creations abruptly materialize in the real world, their arrival wreaks havoc on his romantic life and threatens to upend the entire town. What follows is a wildly escalating chain of events involving seductive robots, reality-bending comedy, and the arrival of the infamous Mumu Monster — a rubber-suited, multi-tentacled nightmare created by legendary animator Jan Švankmajer.

Equal parts children’s television fever dream, underground sci-fi, and slapstick horror, Visitors From The Arkana Galaxy feels like a collision between Saturday-morning fantasy and midnight-movie chaos. Deaf Crocodile and Zagreb Film present the film newly restored in 4K, finally giving this long-unavailable cult oddity the preservation and attention it deserves.
