We Were Strangers (1949) Limited Edition (Australian Import) [Blu-ray]

We Were Strangers 1949 Limited Edition Blu-ray presents John Huston’s historical political thriller in its worldwide Blu-ray debut from Imprint. Jennifer Jones and John Garfield star in this story of revolution, revenge and resistance set against political upheaval in 1930s Cuba.

Havana bank clerk China Valdés is devastated when her brother is killed by the secret police. Determined to strike back, she joins American expatriate Tony Fenner and a group of underground revolutionaries planning an audacious assassination attempt. Their scheme involves tunnelling beneath a cemetery and planting a bomb intended to eliminate the country’s leadership in a single strike.

Inspired by a real plot against Cuban dictator Gerardo Machado, We Were Strangers was financed through Huston’s own Horizon Pictures and arrived during a politically charged period in Hollywood. This Limited Edition Australian import includes a 1080p Blu-ray presentation with English dual mono audio and English HOH subtitles, limited to 1,500 copies.
