Johnny returns to Northern Ireland after years away and finds a place that seems to be thriving in Welcome to Northern Ireland. Tourists fill the streets, and a local businessman and evangelist offers the support he needs to try his hand as a tour guide. Yet rebuilding his life is more complicated than the promise of a fresh start suggests.
His relationship with a woman who helps people travel to England for abortions draws him into another side of life at home. Writer-director Michael MacBroom combines character-led comedy with social satire, following the choices beneath the picture of prosperity. Steven Agnew, Laura Thompson and Karen Kinghan lead this BayView release, presented with English audio and English SDH captions.
