West Indies The Fugitive Slaves of Liberty [Blu-ray]

West Indies The Fugitive Slaves of Liberty Blu-ray presents Med Hondo’s monumental anti-colonial musical in a stunning new 4K restoration. A landmark of African cinema, this ambitious and visually striking work fuses history, performance, and political critique into a powerful cinematic statement.

Set aboard a vast symbolic slave ship, the film unfolds through a series of stylized reenactments and choreographed sequences that explore centuries of French colonial oppression. Blending music, theatre, and historical narrative, Hondo constructs a bold and uncompromising vision of resistance, identity, and liberation.

More than a spectacle, the film stands as a call for Pan-African unity and independence, reimagining history through a lens of defiance and cultural expression.
