White River [Blu-ray]

White River Blu-ray presents Ma Xue’s quietly provocative debut, unfolding against the stillness of pandemic isolation in modern China.

Set in Yanjiao, a town divided from Beijing by the White River, the film follows a woman living under strict quarantine, her days reduced to routine and repetition. Within this confined world, an unexpected relationship with a local waiter begins to disrupt the monotony, observed from a distance by her husband. What begins as subtle curiosity gradually shifts into a study of control, distance, and emotional detachment.

Balancing restraint with surreal touches, White River explores themes of isolation, perception, and intimacy through a deliberately composed lens, marking Ma Xue as a distinctive new voice in contemporary cinema.
