Wildwood NJ Blu-ray arrives from the American Genre Film Archive in partnership with Something Weird Video, celebrating a dreamlike portrait of one of America’s last great carnival towns. Shot on luminous Super 8 by directors Ruth Leitman and Carol Weaks Cassidy with an all-women crew, this intimate documentary captures the lives of women shaped by the boardwalk’s neon glow.

Moving beyond surface spectacle, the film follows go-go dancers, haunted house performers, and locals raised among rides and beaches, revealing the emotional texture beneath the glitter. Wildwood NJ stands as both time capsule and cultural snapshot—its evocative imagery even finding new life in Lana Del Rey’s “Diet Mountain Dew” music video.

This release also includes two spiritually aligned companion pieces: the found-media curiosity Girls at the Carnival and the cinéma vérité mall documentary Mall City.
