Nine-year-old Sheldon Cooper can solve advanced mathematics, but everyday life in East Texas presents a different kind of challenge. Moving through school ahead of his peers, he struggles to understand the customs, beliefs and emotions that everyone else seems to take for granted. His protective mother Mary, football-coach father George, older brother Georgie, twin sister Missy and spirited Meemaw each find their own way to live with his extraordinary mind. Narrated by the adult Sheldon, this warm family comedy follows the Coopers through changing ambitions, new relationships and difficult milestones, revealing the childhood behind the scientist introduced in The Big Bang Theory.
